We have officially finished up our month in the Mediterranean and moved onto the Canary Islands for all of October. Ponta Delgada which is an island belonging to Portugal is our first port. We had something fierce planned for today- a scavenger hunt!! Splitting up into 4 teams of 4 we all sat together and shouted out a list of 50 items that we had to run around town to find. And being that it's 2012, as opposed to collecting them you just need to capture the photos on a single i-phone. Kids these days.
We are modeling off the beautiful tile mosaic to check off our list.
Pork with a fried egg and shrimp. Yes please. It was a long hard day of scavenging.
So after our first visit and running all over the town, I realized there wasn't much to the town. I decided to sign up for a shore excursion. The allure was the stop at the botanical garden, but we made several stops throughout the afternoon. This image here was just a park along the way to the scenic vista- which I must say was pretty impressive.
Ahhh, finally the botanical garden where my camera died. Genius forgot to charge it- but I did manage to get a couple of pics, including one of the adorable garden dogs. There are 12 groundskeepers for this place and they take care of the cats and dogs that live here. This lil guy was great at keeping our tour group company! There was also a heated natural pool on the property. It would have been fun to come back for a swim the third time here but a bit of a commute out to this garden.
Last but not least a stop at some hot springs. Ahh the smell of sulfur!
