Pre-Cruisin

Just as things are getting into a full swing in San Diego, it’s time to pack it up.  I’ve been working with some really great people down there.  Looking forward to more glass shenanigans in the fall when I return.  Turducken Day 2012!

Piper dog says she is coming with!  Sadly no.  But she is in excellent hands hanging out in the sun with her uncles and her favorite canine gal pal.  First stop Seattle!!  Just in town for a few days visiting friends and stuffing my face with good things to eat.  Toulouse Petit still has an untouchable breakfast, and it’s a breakfast happy hour at that.

A pretty easy 9-hour flight over to London.  International flights still have all the perks (pillows/blankets, free luggage, free meals, tv, headsets)…who knew?   British Airways also provided travel toothbrush and toothpaste, which I found ironic seeing as the Brits are notorious for bad teeth.  If only you could have seen my face when I exchanged currency both for pounds and euros.  I felt so ripped off.  A little naïve perhaps.

I was put up overnight in a hotel before boarding the ship early the next morning and decided to head into central London.  About a 2-hour commute on buses and trains roundtrip, but totally worth it!  I was quite impressed with their subway system…“the tube” as they call it.   I walked around for hours.  It is insane there right now with the Olympics going on.  Most of the parks were closed off for the games (which is normally where you would find me meandering in new cities).  I started a self-guided walking tour that was focused on architecture.  But between the closed off streets and my fuzzy map print out I quickly got off track.  Not only was it rainy and overcast but there was also a bright white ferris wheel on the waterfront just like Seattle!!!

Haven’t had internet access for several days now.  So you will probably find that my posts date back several days from where the ship actually is.   I'll get back to you after Russia!  xo

  1. Spending an afternoon in London exploring architecture and a gigantic ferris wheel doesn't sound like a half bad day :)

(It looks like my google account is under the name 'TresLeches'. I have no idea why, haha.)
