Stockholm & Copenhagen

Okay, so I know I have only been to a few European cities so far.  But out of those Stockholm, Sweden is the one I would want to vacation in again.  Except for the fact that it is incredibly expensive.  It was just beautiful, super clean and walkable.  I am even curious about the winter season there.  I could be down with furry leg warmers and ice bars. These zipperalls are all the rage in Europe…if you look closely you will notice that they actually zip all the way over your head.  I might need this evil kinevil one.

Because the museum (free for crew) was packed we decided to save that until next visit and opted to rent a 4-person paddleboat!  It was totally the right decision!!!  4 seats but only 2 pedaling seats.  A bit exhausting, but I lasted 45 minutes straight while the other 3 wimps traded out on the other seat.  Great views of the city.  We couldn’t have had better weather either.

It was also the most beautiful port we sailed in an out of.  A gorgeous channel of islands.  Here are some ships following us on the way out at sunset.

Meanwhile…the other crew members were raving about Copenhagen, Denmark.  It was not nearly as pretty as Stockholm.  Sure this photo of the waterfront area is picturesque but it is also tourist central and completely mobbed.  We opted out of touristy activities, which is a really nice thing to do.  Instead we got fruit, wine, chocolate and sandwich fixings and ventured over to a huge hippy commune to have a picnic.  No exaggeration, this was actually a commune called Christiania.  Lovely indeed.  It was great to just spend a day on the grass and enjoy everyday activities- like these built into the sidewalk trampolines!  Most of my friends on the ship are musicians who play in either the jazz quartet or also the main orchestra who play during the theater shows.

Lots of cute art around cOPENhagen (as the signs read).  In the Baltic ports we have visited, the street performers have played wine glasses filled with water, the ever so popular accordion, and the guitar.  But this gentleman was drawing a crowd in the shopping district with his enormous bubbles.  It looked like fun.   (Leo you have competition).

The internet situation is quite pathetic so I apologize for delayed postings.  Hugs and kisses to all!
