Helloooo Florence! Mom and I went on a guided tour. Which again means everyone listens along to some guide blab through a head set, while I wander around aimlessly like a goldfish.
It was so amazing to see the Gates of Paradise even though they were a copy and the fully restored gates are hidden away in the Florence Cathedral Museum. Having taken art history courses in college, this made for a very rewarding experience.
Also visited the Palazzo Vecchio and saw statues of David. Copies of course. Mom was a little upset to realize that all of the pieces we were viewing outside of museums were copies. I suppose I didn't really think about it beforehand but it makes sense. Florence was really quite beautiful and cleaner than Rome and Genoa and Pisa. We made sure to return to the ship with some Italian leathers and pasta to bring to Gram!! The leaning tower was impressively leany. Made it to Florence just once with mom and to Pisa a second time with Ryan and my Jazzy friends. We are getting good at finagling the public transportation on our own.
Your mouth will water still as you continue to eat this I promise.
A local artist has gotten creative with many of the do not enter signs. I like.
