When I was growing up my dad had a trucker hat that said "If Momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy". So I agreed to go with mom on some super touristy shore excursions. After all were were in the homeland and it was kind of a dream of both of ours. Wish my little sister Janelle was there with us. Yes I said that. Our Rome tour was 10 hours long and a walking tour in the city. We started out at the famous Trevy Fountain.
I gave up on the headset part of the tour. I just prefer to take in the sights visually and not listen to someone in my ear all day. Mom made sure to tell me useful information. We visited the ruins, the Colosseum, the Vatican Museum, and St. Peter's Basilica. Mom loved it! Especially the Sistine Chapel.
I got to go back to Rome the second trip to port as well. It was a tour called Rome on your own which basically just gave me a ride in on the bus for free. About 1.5 hours from our port. So I meandered around the city at my own pace covering a lot of ground and revisiting things I wanted to see. I had plans to meet Ryan and Tara at the Colosseum at 1pm so we could share an amazing lunch and we did. We walked along the river and happened upon the Jewish section of Rome. Fabulous kosher restaurants- we had a feast! So glad I got to see Rome but it actually was not my favorite Italian city we visited. Stay tuned.
